Need A Break From Winter? Visit The Park Where It's Always Spring

When you think of places to escape the winter chill, Easthampton, MA probably doesn't rank very high on the list. What you may not realize is that this western mountain town is home to what is thought to be the world's only indoor hydroponic park.

Located on the second floor of a 19th-century felt mill, Mill 180 Park was designed to emulate the great urban parks ofNew York City, London and Tokyo.

Visitors find it easy to forget the snow coming down just outside the windows when surrounded by hydroponically-grown greenery. (Hydroponic basically just means grown using a substrate other than soil like sand or liquid with added ingredients).

The setting is perfect for community gatherings, year-round Friday night concerts, a variety of festivals, sponsored talks, debates, and karaoke nights.

And of course, there is plenty of room to play - for kids AND adults!

When it comes to dining, the food at Mill 180 is the very definition of fresh. A variety of edible plants including lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, kale, swiss chard, and many different varieties of herbs are grown on site and utilized in the Eatery's vegan, non-vegan and kid-friendly options.

The menu features salads, grilled sandwiches, and daily and weekly specials. In addition, guests can enjoy a fresh cappucino or a locally brewed craft beer.
