Snag One More Day Of Summer At The Dorchester Beach Festival

Snag One More Day Of Summer At The Dorchester Beach Festival

For many, the 2018 school year has already begun. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy one last end-of-summer celebration on the beach!

Saturday August 25 is expected to be dry and sunny with temps in the low 80s, so break out your bathing suits and head to Malibu Beach for the 10th annual Dorchester Beach Festival!

Hosted by the Friends of Savin Hill Shores, this family-friendly event promises food, fun, music, contests, games and more.

Childrens events will take place from 3 - 6 and live musical performances - including Boston's beloved Keytar Bear and a Beatles cover band - will begin at 5 and run through the end of the festival at 8:30.

Activities for adults include cornhole; spikeball; carnival games such as knock-a-block, quarterback toss, baseball toss, and high striker; and giant lawn games like Connect 4, Horseshoes, and Pong.

Kids will adore performances from the Boston Circus Guild, facepainting, beach-themed arts and crafts, bubble demos, and visits from a Roaming Pirate storyteller - plus much, much more!

Child-friendly presentations and activities will be hosted by representatives of local environmental, artistic, marine, recreational, historical and government agencies as well as non-profits.

They will promote health and wellness; sun, water and bike safety; recycling and conservation with :

  • Sailing & canoeing in the cove.
  • Opportunities to observe & handle live local tidal pool animals at the N.E. Aquarium’s Traveling Tidal Pool exhibit.
  • Education on native marine life by embarking on an eco-scavenger hunt.
