Jack's Hot Dog Stand has begun its 101st year of service in the same downtown North Adams spot where it all began.
This family-owned retro lunch counter has not changed much since it was first opened by owner, John Levanos' grandfather Jaffros in 1917.
The hot dogs may be small and simple-looking compared to other joints, but the taste is what scored Jack's the honor of Yankee Magazine's pick for Best Hot Dogs in Massachusetts.
Custom-made by Wohrle’s in Pittsfield, Yankee recommends ordering your dogs “with everything” (mustard, relish, and onion) or“chili cheese," which involves wrapping a dog in white American cheese and slathering it in house chili sauce.
Don't forget to add an order of Jack’s famous, hand-cut fries!
Jack's also serves burgers and pulled pork sandwiches, but it is the hot dogs that made them famous and allow them to remain a local favorite to this day.
Joints like Jack's don't stick around for over a century unless they are doing something right! But don't take it from us, make your way to North Adams and judge for yourself!
