Take The Sundae Challenge At MA's Oldest Ice Cream Shoppe
Share
In Centerville, Massachusetts you'll find one of the oldest and top-rated ice cream shops in the nation. Four Seas Ice Cream opened its doors in 1934 and once operated out of an old blacksmith shop.
Four Seas is now located about 3/4 of a mile from the beach, and as their name (partially) suggests, they have expanded their hours and are now open "all four seasons."
In addition to their fabulous flavors and extensive local history, the Four Seas lures visitors with their Hurricane Sundae Challenge.
Served in a massive bowl, the Hurricane features 16 scoops of ice cream, 2 brownies, 2 bananas, 4 maraschino cherries, whipped cream, and your choice of 4 additional toppings.
With a total weight of 4.5 pounds, it is enough ice cream to bring most folks to their knees. However, if you do manage to tackle this gargantuan sundae in thirty minutes or less, you will be rewarded with a commemorative photo on the wall, a tee shirt, and a whole lot of respect from the locals! You will also get the sundae for free.
Should you fail, you'll have to shell out $55 for your massive dairy treat.
This challenge is not for the faint of heart. Many employees are yet to witness a single soul complete this brain-freezing challenge!
Wondering what kind of ice cream you'll include in your personalized Hurricane Sundae? Four Seas offers many classic New England flavors including Rum and Butter, Maple Walnut and Penuche Pecan.
If sweets aren't your thing, the shop will begin offering its tasty seasonal lobster sandwich and lobster roll in May.
Four Seas operates daily from 11 am to around 5:00 pm.
