Yankees president thinks his team is as good as the Red Sox

The New York Yankees are getting cocky again.
Remember how the Boston Red Sox won the World Series in 2018 AND had the best record in baseball during the regular season. Remember how the New York Yankees had to do that play-in game to even get into the playoffs and once they got there, they got beat by the Red Sox in the ALDS? I’m sure you do, but the New York Yankees front office seems to have about as good of a memory as Dory in “Finding Nemo”. Not great!
Here is what their team president Randy Levine said about the team and how it compares to the Red Sox.
“I think we’re as good as the Red Sox right now. I think they had a better postseason than us. We had a lot of injuries....that division series could have gone either way with a couple of innings.”
Well, you know what? It didn’t. The Red Sox had injuries and they still won. Gotta love these guys making up excuses. As for the notion that the Yankees are as good as the Red Sox, the answer right now is probably because the team hasn’t finished up signing free agents. Still need to bring back Nathan Eovaldi but come spring training, the Red Sox will be the team to beat once again--not the Yankees.
So yeah, the Yankees front office can be pretty entertaining to listen to because it is funny to see how much confidence they have in their team or how much they pretend to have out in public. I still really don’t know which of those two things it is, but it has to be one of them. Odds are, there’s a pretty equal chance of either outcome.
But yeah, the Yankees have a lot to prove next season, and so do the Red Sox, for that matter.
