According to WalletHub, a personal finance website aimed at young people, Worcester, Massachusetts is one of the 100 best cities for United States singles.
The central Mass city came in 66th on the publication's list of "2020's Best and Worst Cities For Singles."
The study compared more than 180 locales to determine where people were most - and least - likely to find a mate based on 32 factors including local singles population, number of online dating opportunities, and cost of going to a movie.
Each city was scored in four categories: Overall, Economics, Fun and Recreation, and Dating Opportunities.
While Worcester received a high marks for its many dating opportunities - it’s the city with the 29th most opportunities to find love in the nation, according to WalletHub, it came in 125th out of 180 in the Fun and Recreation category. Surprising considering the city's recent influx of new businesses.
A few additional New England cities also made the list including Portland and Lewiston, Maine; Manchester and Nashua, NH; and Warwick, Rhode Island.
Boston took the number 43 spot with high marks for fun and recreation as well as dating opportunities, but very low scores in the economic categories.
Another shock is the city that took the number one overall spot for singles to mingle: Madison, Wisconsin. WalletHub states this midwest spot provides lots of opportunities for fun, reasonably-priced dates.
On the other end of the spectrum, Glendale, California was voted the worst U.S. city for romance seekers due to its high price tags for entertainment and large percentage of married or committed couples.
