The Chowdaheadz Times Back to The Times

No, We Don't Serve Clam Chowda (Charlie Is Tired)

Every week, without fail, somebody emails Chowdaheadz asking where they can get a bowl of clam chowda. Sometimes they call. Sometimes they walk into the warehouse looking for a takeout window that doesn't exist. We love the optimism. We really do. But we gotta clear this up once and for all.

We don't serve clam chowda. We sell t-shirts. Sweatshirts. Hats. The occasional stuffed clam named Charlie. Not soup. Never soup. There is no ladle in this building.

If you've been one of those people, no hard feelings. The name doesn't exactly help. Here's the full story, plus the reel we made because Charlie was starting to panic.

Yes, We're Called Chowdaheadz. No, There's No Soup.

We've been a New England apparel company since 2004. Funny tees. Townie pride. Inside jokes printed on cotton. Somewhere along the way the name "Chowdaheadz" convinced a solid chunk of the internet that we run a clam shack with really good merch.

We get it. Chowda is sacred around here. When you see the word, your brain goes straight to a bread bowl and oyster crackers. But our warehouse outside Boston is full of screen printers and shipping boxes, not pots of cream and potatoes. The closest thing we have to a kitchen is a coffee maker that works half the time.

The Emails Are Getting Out of Hand (In a Hilarious Way)

The requests are creative. People ask for:

  • Our "secret recipe"
  • Catering for a wedding
  • Whether we deliver to Connecticut
  • If the chowda comes with oyster crackers
  • Hours for dine-in

We've politely explained the situation hundreds of times. Charlie, our clam mascot, has heard enough. So we made a little video about it.

Watch: Don't Ask Charlie for Clam Chowah

This is the official PSA. Share it with whoever still thinks we ladle soup.

What We Do Serve (Sort Of)

We can't ladle you a bowl. We can put the joke on your chest. If you love New England clam chowdah enough to email a t-shirt company about it, you should probably own the New England Clam Chowdah T-Shirt. And if you've ever corrected a tourist who said "chowder" with an R, the Chowdah Not Chowder T-Shirt is basically community service.

Want the actual soup? Hit Legal Sea Foods, Atlantic Fish, Captain Parker's on the Cape, or your aunt's kitchen on a Sunday. Want the attitude? That's us.

So, To Recap

  • Chowdaheadz = New England apparel company since 2004
  • Clam chowda = delicious, cream-based, no tomatoes, not sold here
  • Charlie = stuffed clam mascot who does not take food orders
  • Your inbox email asking for catering = answered with love and a product link

Thanks for thinking of us when you get hungry. Just aim the hunger at a restaurant and the pride at the merch. We'll keep printing the shirts. You keep eating the chowda. Everybody wins. Charlie can finally calm down.

Born in New England. Fueled by iced coffee. Wicked proud of it since 2004. Still not serving soup.
