Last week we told you all about the modern Italian restaurant Sorellina in the Back Bay. It turns out OpenTable has given this establishment a spot on their annual list of 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America as well as another Boston favorite - Mamma Maria in the North End.
Both have impressive reviews at 4.8 out of 5 stars each. The link is unranked, meaning neither restaurant is rated above the other.
With Valentine's Day right around the corner, you may want to nab a reservation before they are all gone!
“We craft this list every year to help diners looking for inspiration for the most popular date night of the year,” said Jessica Jensen, senior vice president of marketing at OpenTable, in a press release. “Whether it’s a special night with your significant other, a girl’s night out, or your first outing with someone new, these restaurants have passed the test of setting the table for exceptional ambiance and an incredible meal.”
OpenTable looked at over 80 million diner reviews written between December 1, 2018, and November 30, 2019 for restaurants in 31 states. Overall diner rating, number of reviews,regional overall rating, and whether eateries were classified as “romantic,” were then scored and sorted.
Mamma Maria is open Sundays–Thursdays from 5 p.m.–9:30 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m.–10 p.m.
They specialize in high-end Italian food served up in elegant, private rooms within a 19th century row house. What could be more cozy and romantic?

While Sorellina and Mamma Maria are the only two Boston independent restaurants to be selected by Open Table, a few chains with locations in Massachusetts also made the list, including Eddie V’s and The Capital Grille.
New England's Bouchard Restaurant and Inn in Newport, R.I also made the cut.
