Busy bars and nightclubs have their place, but for those who prefer a cozier setting, board game cafes may be the answer.
The Castle: A Board Game Cafe is located on the North Shore in Beverly, MA. It is the brainchild of two college buddies who wanted to recreate the fun and camaraderie of campus game nights.
The library of more than 800 games is divided into genres such as strategy, cooperative, classic and party. Unlimited play is just $5 per person.
Each game has a sticker with a color revealing its complexity. Those looking for a light, casual game should stick to the green stickers and stay away from the reds!
The games labeled with blue stickers are perfect for couples looking for a more intimate way to pass the time.
The Castle is also a full-service restaurant with light snacks like popcorn and nachos as well as heartier options like burgers and sandwiches.
Warm up on chilly afternoons with a hot mocha latte, chai tea, cappuccino, Americano, or hot chocolate.
Those enjoying an evening out can choose from a variety of local beers, wine, and a great selection of cocktails and mocktails.
Hardcore gamers will love the occasional tournaments as well as the themed trivia nights every Monday. The cafe even hosts stand-up and improv nights.
The Castle is open for business seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
