Humans are great and all, but dogs truly are man’s best friend. They never talk back, they’re always happy to be with you – don’t they deserve some one-on-one time? Here are some spots across Massachusetts where your pup is not only welcome, he’s guaranteed to have a blast.
For Fun:
When the sun is shining and the Fall breezes are blowing, it’s the perfect time to visit one of Massachusetts’ dog friendly beaches. At Nahant Doggie Beach in Nahant, MA the weeks between October 1 – April 30 belong to the pups! They are free to romp, dig and splash at their leisure until Spring rolls back around.
If you’re down the Cape with your pooch, you two can hit the waves together on a whale watching cruise. The Dolphin Fleet of Provincetown Whale Watch tours welcome dogs aboard at no additional cost.
Social city pups will have a blast at Peter’s Park in Boston. There are more than 13,000 square feet for dogs to run and play together, including a separate 3,000 square foot area for smaller pooches. Humans can relax with a cup of coffee and a good book while their dogs release some energy.
For Food:
Once you two have worked up an appetite, head to one of several Massachusetts eateries that cater to dogs as well as people. Provincetown’s Central House at the Crown is an upscale spot with seafood dishes by celebrity chef, Michele Ragussis.
City pups can check out Blunch – a breakfast, brunch and lunch spot for those craving comfort food. They keep a bowl of biscuits by the door for canine companions.
Top Dog in Rockport serves signature hot dogs, clam rolls and great local beer. Since it is a hot dog joint, Top Dog is always open to the dogs!
For A Treat:
To top off your Doggie Date, be sure to get an after dinner snack you both can enjoy. J.P. Licks in Newton serves ice cream treats for pups and people. Humans can choose from ice cream, frozen yogurt and homemade chipwiches, and pups will love the signature Cow Paws dessert designed just for them.
At Wired Puppy on Newbury Street in Boston, you can get a coffee buzz and a muffin with your pal. Dogs are welcome to sit inside or out on the patio. They also have a location in P-town.
For some delicious baked good you both can enjoy, visit The Black Dog Tavern in Vineyard Haven on Martha’s Vineyard. The famous black dog t-shirts have led to a huge array of products, stores and restaurants. The bakery cafe is open 7 days a week and serves fresh baked breakfast and lunch sandwiches, a variety of pastries, and of course, doggie cookies!
