New Hampshire’s Hampton Beach Voted America’s Best Boardwalk
Coastal Living magazine has tasked their readers with voting for the Best of Summer spots across the country with a new category each week. Until Labor Day, readers will have the opportunity to choose their favorite summer places and foods, from boardwalks to lobster rolls and parks.
This week’s winner for Best Beach Boardwalk went to none other than New Hampshire‘s Hampton Beach boardwalk!
With iconic locations like the Coney Island Pier in Brooklyn; the Atlantic City Boardwalk; the Santa Monica Pier in California; and Maryland’s Ocean City Boardwalk, it is quite the honor that the title was awarded to a humble New England spot.
Fun Fact: Did you know that New Hampshire’s coastline is less than 20 miles long?
Since 1899, the Hampton Beach Boardwalk and Casino has boasted mouthwatering seafood, refreshing beverages…
…and arcade games to beach-going vacationers.
The 1.3-mile “old-school” boardwalk was described as “charming” by Coastal Living editors for its long stretch of waterfront shops and sandy beaches.
Hampton Beach also plays host to the world-famous annual sand sculpting competition. This year’s 17th annual festivities occurred June 14 – 17.
Visitors love the free summer concerts hosted on the boardwalk’s Sea Shell stage.
And of course, the summer staple of New Hampshire beach food – Blink’s Fry Doe.
