Everything You Need To Know About MGM Springfield Resort Casino

Move over Mohegan Sun, "the best of Las Vegas has come to the heart of New England," according to the MGM Springfield Facebook page.

That's right, in just one week, Massachusetts will have its very first resort casino - and what a place it's going to be!

The massive 2 million-square-foot complex takes up three blocks of Springfield's Main Street and features 125,000 square-feet of gaming space, a five-story hotel, shops, restaurants, and much more.

Vegas fans will not be let down by the casino which houses 2,550 slot machines, 120 gaming tables, a poker room and a VIP gaming area, according to MGM.

Non-gamblers can stay busy swimming in the resort's 8,000 square-foot pool, relaxing at the spa, catching a flick at the eight-screen movie theater, bowling at the resort's own 10-lane alley or practicing their swing in the three-simulator “Topgolf Swing Suite” lounge.

“Visitors can play in groups or practice solo while enjoying gourmet bites and inventive cocktails,” a press release from MGM International reads. “When it’s time to take their shot, players will step up to a large, theater-style screen to try their hand at a selection of virtual games. Each simulator can fit up to eight players and offers fun no matter the guest’s skill level.”

For those that love a good Vegas-style show, the 8,000-seat MassMutual Center plans to host some fabulous acts, including Stevie Wonder and Boston-born comedian, Bill Burr starting this fall.

Dining options include a steakhouse and an Italian restaurant, but MGM Springfield really shines in the beverage department.

The resort features several bars and will have a heavy focus on mixology. The Commonwealth Bar will even be offering a cocktail worth $25,000 - served with a side of 1901 cognac and an authentic Indian motorcycle! Just ask for an “Indian Sidecar”!

You can't have the "Best of Vegas" without shopping! The compound will include retailers such as Kringle Candle, Hannoush Jewelers, and an Indian Motorcycle apparel shop.

Opening Day will kick off with a parade on Friday, Aug. 24 at 10:30 A.M. The question is, will you be there to help welcome New England's latest attraction?
