Downtown Cuban Restaurant Now Features An Underground Cocktail Lounge

Thanks to its location in a redesigned downtown bank, COJE Management's fourth and latest restaurant features stunning 23-foot ceilings and a wide open dining room.
Mariel first opened at the end of September with the promise of a separate cocktail lounge that would open at a later date. The downstairs bar, Mariel Underground, finally opened last night.
Visitors to Mariel the restaurant will find cozy booths, shareable plates, curated music, and colorful Cuban murals while those heading to Mariel Underground will enjoy a darker, more nightlife-focused cocktail bar.
Mariel is already known for its Cuban-style “street pizzas.” They feature a sweet dough, house-made tomato-and-pepper sauce, and a blend of mozzarella and Havana-style gouda.
Toppings include chorizo, roast pork, grilled chicken, and charred maitake mushrooms.
The restaurant's signature drink is a traditional mint mojito made with locally-sourced spearmint. You can also choose fruit-flavored mojitos like guava and strawberry.
At both the restaurant bar and Mariel Underground, the focus is definitely on rum with fresh daiquiris, pina coladas, and light and dark rums mixed with a variety of exotic additives such as "honey syrup egg whites."
Mariel's main dining room is open for lunch from 11:30am-2:30pm and dinner from 4:30pm-11pm Monday through Friday and Saturday and Sunday dinner from 5pm-11pm.
Mariel Underground offers drinks and happy hour bites Tuesday through Friday from 5 p.m.–9 p.m. and Saturday drinks from 9 p.m. to close.
