At Chowdaheadz, we love showing our New England pride. We put it on our shirts, wear it on our hats, and bring it into everything we do. That pride also means showing up for the communities that make this place home.
That’s why we’re proud to sponsor the BTru Foundation as it launches its inaugural service-learning program this fall. Along with our sponsorship, Chowdaheadz employees will volunteer alongside students throughout the school year, helping them turn ideas into action for their school and community.
Four hands-on projects. Two classrooms. Plenty of good to do right here at home.
A Little Teamwork. A Big Local Impact.
The program gives students the opportunity to discover needs in their community and work together to help address them. The first project kicks off in October, with four service-learning projects planned throughout the school year and a celebration in May.
Teachers will lead the student experience, while BTru supplies the projects, materials, and ongoing support. Our Chowdaheadz crew will join the classrooms for several visits throughout the year, working alongside students as community partners.
We’re excited to roll up our sleeves, get to know these young neighbors, and be part of what they accomplish. There’s a lot to love about New England, and people looking out for each other is high on our list.
Learning by Doing—and Giving Back
BTru’s approach follows five phases: discover a need, create something to address it, give back, connect with the people helped, and reflect on the experience. Along the way, students build empathy, leadership, and confidence in their ability to make a difference.
"When students have the opportunity to work alongside adults from their community to help others, they begin to see themselves as people who can make a difference," said Sean Fitzgerald, Founder and President of BTru Foundation. "This partnership gives students the chance to learn by doing, while Chowdaheadz employees connect with students and contribute to the Wakefield community."
BTru stands for “Be Altruistic.” Fitzgerald founded the organization after more than a decade of leading service-learning projects with students. The Massachusetts nonprofit connects students in Grades 3–8 with community partners for projects that bring classroom learning into the community.

Chowdaheadz is a Greater Boston-based apparel and novelty brand inspired by the places, personalities, and everyday traditions that make New England feel like home. From our regional humor to our hometown pride, celebrating this corner of the world is what we’re all about.
Supporting BTru gives our team another way to put that pride into practice. We’re proud to help bring this program to Walton School and can’t wait to see what its fourth graders create, learn, and share this year.
