The Dreamland Wax Museum in Downtown Boston opens this month giving New Englanders the rare opportunity to snap a selfie with all their favorite celebrities and important figures throughout history.
Alongside Boston locals Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Ray Bourque, Bobby Orr, Paul Pierce, and Boston Pops director Arthur Fiedler, visitors will also find a vast array of political figures and society-shapers.
In fact, about half of Dreamland’s hundred or so sculptures are devoted to non-Hollywood celebs.
All 44 presidents – from Washington to Trump – will be represented and many of the more academic figures will be able to “speak” through an interactive app visitors can download to their phones.
The museum is Brazilian company, Dreamz Entertainment’s first foray into the U.S. market. They already own 35 museums in Central and South America, and feel that Boston’s rich history makes it the perfect place to begin their American venture.
“There’s no better place to get started than Boston,” Michael Pelletz, Dreamland’s VP of Sales told Boston.com. “The history, the tourism — we’re steps away from the Freedom Trail, right next to Faneuil Hall, so we couldn’t ask for a better location.”
Pelletz says Dreamz Entertainment’s newest museum is a fresh take on the wax figure concept. Whereas others showcase their sculptures behind glass or velvet ropes, all of the Dreamland celebs are available to touch, photograph and interact with.
Any wear-and-tear from all that touching will be repaired on a daily basis by a full-time artist who will fix the characters’ hair, makeup and clothing as needed.
So feel free to cozy up to Katie Perry, hug the Queen of England, or snap a family photo with Elvis!
Dreamland is located at 1 Washington Mall, in Downtown Boston – the same spot where Paul Revere and his father once ran a goldsmith shop!
