Are You Ready For Some Football – At Fenway?

Football returned to Fenway Park in 2015 after a 47-year hiatus. Since the ballpark opened in 1912, Fenway hosted high school and college football games frequently, and even became the home of the Boston Patriots from 1963-1968.

Good morning November.

The Fenway Gridiron Series presented by Your Call Football now offers a handful of college teams the chance to face off on the field of America’s Most Beloved Ballpark.

This year’s three game football series kicks off Friday when Dartmouth College faces Brown University and ends next Saturday following a matchup between Boston College and UConn.

Fenway will also host three Boston-area High School Football games in the days before Thanksgiving.

According to Fenway Sports Management Managing Director Mark Lev, the events are expected to be a success and may lead to more football at Fenway in the near future.

In fact, the organization has expressed interest in hosting UMASS football on a regular basis. UMass will host Maine Saturday at 4 PM in the second game of the “Fenway Gridiron Series”.

Lev told MassLive that Fenway Sports Management is looking to turn the ballpark into a “year-round entertainment destination,” and teaming up with UMASS could be a natural fit if they opt to make the series an annual November event.

“We’d love to be a home for UMass football, for it to think of Fenway as an alternative home to Amherst, much like Gillette has served that role for them,” Lev said. “I think (UMass athletic director Ryan Bamford) has commented that it’s nice to have both Fenway and Gillette as places that have welcomed UMass football. I think our goal just generally with football is that we’d like to make it a regular occurrence at Fenway.”

Fine tuning. #teamwork #thankyou #redsox #myfenway #footballatFenway
