There's nothing worse than a boring bar. Who wants to awkwardly stare at their friends across over-priced drinks? You can do that at home!
Luckily Boston has no shortage of exciting pop ups and theme bars! The latest is Versus, a vintage arcade-themed establishment with great food, exciting cocktails, and your favorite nostalgic games!
Versus opened in Downtown Crossing last week and features pop art murals, multiple LED televisions, and a Funktion One sound system.
Video games include a mixture of old-time favorites like Frogger, Mortal Kombat, and Centipede, as well as modern titles like Madden 19 and Golden Tee.
For those who don't enjoy video games, Versus also offers tabletop games like Jenga and Connect Four, as well as active challenges such as Dynamo Air Hockey, Skee-Ball, Pinball, and Shuffleboard.
There is certainly nothing boring about the arcade bar's game-themed cocktails! Try an 8 Bit Old Fashioned, a Hendrick’s High Score, or a Sharp Shooter Sidebar.
Choose from "single-player format" cocktails or share with friends with the bar's "multi-player format."
Even the wine and beer options have fun, arcade-themed names. Try the Galactica Double IPA or the Space Cake Double IPA.
Once you work up an appetite from all that drinking and gaming, sample Versus' classic bar bites including cheese steak spring rolls, “Flamin’ Hot” onion rings, jumbo pretzels, pizza, sandwiches, and burgers.
Some entrees are even served in vintage-style lunchboxes - how cute is that?!
Versus is located at 42 Province St. in Downtown Crossing. Hours are Monday –Thursday from 11 a.m.–11 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m.–1 a.m., Saturdays from 5 p.m.–1 a.m., and Sundays from noon–8 p.m.
