4 Boston Area Halloween Events For Dogs & The People Who Love Them

If you are a proud pet parent searching for a way to show off your dog’s fabulous Halloween style, then Boston has an event – or four – for you! For those who worry that dressing their pet in costume may come across as crazy: Dogtime.com reports that 20 million American pet owners spent a whopping $350 million on pet costumes in 2015!

So indulge your silly side, slap a cute costume on Fido, and mingle with like minded paw-rents at some of Boston’s most dog-friendly locations!
1. Halloween Pet Parade & Costume Contest
Saturday, Oct. 28 from noon to 4 PM at Faneuil Hall Marketplace
What better venue to show off your pup’s personal style than the ever-popular Faneuil Hall Marketplace? The outdoor area will be chock-full of costumed canines and the people who love them, plus a panel of judges will be on hand to award prizes for Best in Show, Best Owner/Pet Combo, Best Local Representation, and Most Creative. The event is free, but pets competing for titles must be pre-registered.
2. Yappier Hour Event
Monday, Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 8 PM at the Liberty Hotel

The always dog-friendly Liberty Hotel holds regular Yappier Hour events all throughout the warmer months. The season concludes on October 30 with a free Halloween-themed bash complete with a doggy costume contest! The winner will receive a donation to Last Hope K9 Rescue in his or her name, as well as gifts from The Fish & Bone pet boutique. The Liberty will also donate a portion of the evening’s proceeds to Last Hope to help pups in need.
3. Doggone Halloween Costume Parade
Friday, Oct. 27 from noon to 2 PM at Downtown Crossing

On Oct. 27, well-behaved dogs on leashes are invited to strut their stuff through Downtown Crossing. The event is free, but dogs competing in the Scariest Costume, Best Human & Dog Duo and Most Creative costume categories must be registered in advance. All pups must get along well with other dogs and be able to handle a crowd.
4. Howl-o-Ween Costume Party
Saturday, Oct. 28 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Seaport Boston Hotel & World Trade Center, Plaza level garden

The Seaport Boston Hotel’s Howl-o-ween Costume Party is the perfect event for chow hounds. The culinary team will provide delicious, organic, made-from-scratch treats for doggies in disguise! This event is also free and will feature a costume contest, raffles and a cash bar. Participants can register before the event, but it is not mandatory.
