10 Celebrities You Never Realized Were From New Hampshire

New Hampshire is one of America's smallest states with 1.335 million residents reported during the 2016 census. The Granite State may be little, but it has a knack for churning out celebrities!

Most New Englanders know that comedian/movie star, Adam Sandler is a proud New Hampshirite, but many more of your favorite actors, comedy personalities, authors and musicians have also called NH home at some point in their lives - like the following 10 celebrities!

1. Seth Myers

The Late Night host was born in Illinois and lived in Michigan until the age of 10. After that, his family relocated to Bedford which he considers his home.

2. Sarah Silverman

The Comedy Central comedienne is a true New Hampshire native, having been born in Bedford and raised in Manchester. Her first stand-up comedy appearance was in Boston at the age of 17.

3. Mandy Moore

The 90's pop princess and current star of the hit show, This Is Us was born in Nashua on April 10, 1984, but relocated to Orlando, Florida when she was just 2 months old.

4. John Irving

Considered one of the great American novelists of our time, the A Prayer for Owen Meany author was born in Exeter, and attended Phillips Exeter Academy and the University of New Hampshire.

5. J.D. Salinger

Salinger is best known for the revered coming-of-age novel, The Catcher in the Rye. After its publication, the troubled writer left New York City and the public eye to live out his days in Cornish, NH.

6. Robert Frost

The famous poet was born in California, but spent time in the New Hampshire wilderness and became inspired by its beauty. His father descended from Nicholas Frost of England, who sailed to New Hampshire in 1634 on the Wolfrana.

7. Dan Brown

Brown was born in 1964 in Exeter, New Hampshire where he lived and attended public school. He has said his exposure to religion as a child inspired his best-selling novels The DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons

8. Sam Huntington

The star of Not Another Teen Movie and the American version of Being Human was born in Peterborough. His mother owned and operated the Black Box Theatre, where Huntington started his career.

9. Anthony Steven Kalloniatis (Ant)

Born in Boston in 1967, the comedian best known for his work on NBC's Last Comic Standing, attended Londonderry High School and the University of New Hampshire where he drunkenly attempted stand-up for the first time.

10. Jodi Picoult

The mega-successful author of books like My Sister's Keeper and The Seventh Circle often sets her stories in New England. She was born in New York and moved to New Hampshire when she was 13 years old.
