Unicorn Floats & Fish Waffle Cones Are Coming To The Seaport

Taiyaki NYC is a whimsical ice cream shop known for its fun, colorful ice cream creations, including unicorn floats and fish waffle cones. The company recently announced they will be heading to Boston this spring with an oceanfront spot in the Seaport!

The company was launched in Manhattan in 2016, and takes its name from the Japanese fish-shaped cake known as taiyaki.

Taiyaki dates back to the Edo Period (1600s to 1800s), and was based on a round cake known as imagawayaki before getting its fun fish shape.

The website describes its take on the traditional cake:

The most literal translation of taiyaki is fried fish! Tai (sea bream) is a type of fish often considered king among fish in Japan, and yaki can mean fried, baked, or grilled. In our case, we bake our taiyaki!

Taiyaki NYC currently has shops in Miami, Brooklyn, and Toronto, and will add Boston to their list as soon as April.

The company is best known for its colorful cones swirled high with soft serve and topped with colorful sprinkles. To make it a "Unicorn Taiyaki" a horn and little ears are added.
Another customer favorite, the Unicorn Float, is served resting in an inflatable unicorn drink caddie - perfect for relaxing in the pool on a hot day.
Exotic soft serve flavors include matcha and black sesame, but they also offer traditional vanilla and chocolate.
It's no surprise that Taiyaki NYC is a favorite among Instagrammers. The cute, colorful ice cream treats make for fabulous photo ops.

The Seaport already has several ice cream and sweet shops, but this unique take on a traditional Japanese treat is sure to make a huge splash among Bostonians this spring!
