Did anyone really have a doubt in their mind about it?
The New England Patriots won the AFC East for the 11th season in a row. Now, this year was probably the most nerve wracking of the bunch, but it is still going really well for the team.
The Patriots topped the Buffalo Bills last Saturday, as you probably know by now. That right there gave them the win in the division. We knew it was going to be a competitive game because the Patriots and Bills have played a lot of competent games over the years. Not only this, but the Bills and Patriots were just one game apart in the standings prior to that matchup, so the Bills are a good team.
Remember, the Bills beat the Patriots earlier in the season...
So that makes it 11 conference titles in a row for the Patriots. That's not too bad. Remember, the last time the team did not win the was the Matt Cassel year. That's right, that's the equivalent of 700s AD Europe: the dark ages for the New England Patriots.
Now the Patriots next matchup is against the Miami Dolphins. I don't know if they're going to play a lot of their starters for most of the game or not. It's not a very important football game and frankly, the Patriots could probably beat the Dolphins--or at least play a tight game--regardless of whether or not their starters are in the game.
We'll have to see what happens in that one, but what I do know is that the Patriots are either going to finish the regular season at 12-4 or 13-3. Either way, they are in a very good position headed into the postseason. Let's just leave it at that, to be honest. We can watch the rest unfold soon.
