Get Lost In A Sea Of Spring Flowers At The Nantucket Daffodil Festival
Share
Spring is the perfect time for flowers and festivals, and the annual Nantucket Daffodil Festival combines the best of both. Every year at the end of April, the island turns sunshine yellow with daffodil blossoms!
This year the events will be held from from April 26-28, and represent the event's 45th year.
The family-friendly festival features art shows, tours, parades, exhibitions, contests, lectures, and, of course, the annual Nantucket Daffodil Flower Show.
The antique car parade dates back to the 1970s and has grown in size and popularity. The islanders cruise along in their classic autos, draped in yellow daffodil decorations.
Afterwards, everyone meets up for a tailgate picnic at 'Sconset beach.
There is also a Children's Parade featuring decorated bikes, strollers, wagons, etc. so the kids are not left out of the fun!
The storefronts participate in a window display contest, while the locals decorate hats for the "daffy" hat contest
Even the dogs of Nantucket join in the excitement with special costume contests.
To top it all off, the 45th Annual Community Daffodil Flower Show will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 2 pm to 5 pm and Sunday, April 28 from 10 am to 4 pm at Bartlett’s Ocean View Farm.
The event is sponsored by the Nantucket Garden Club and approved by The American Daffodil Society. Check out the gorgeous bouquets and arrangements and pick up some bulbs to plant in your garden!
