Meet Your New Best Friend This Weekend At The SoWa Open Market

The trendy SoWa Open Market is now in its 14th season. Its collection of fresh products from local farmers, artists, chefs and musicians make it the perfect summer weekend destination.

This Sunday you can do more than just support your community by shopping local, the SoWa Adoption Event sponsored by RUFF Tales Rescue will also give you the opportunity to meet your new furry BFF! The event takes place from 10 AM to 4 PM and the weather is expected to be warm and sunny.

There is no pressure to adopt any of the pups, but if you are in the market for a new pal – RUFF Tales has plenty of great candidates! Even if you know you can’t bring home a dog, you are welcome to attend the event and snuggle with some sweet pups while you shop. You can also chat with some of the RUFF Tales rescuers about the many other ways you can help out.

You crack me up !!! Name: Fabio Breed: Collie mix Approximate age: 1 year Approximate weight: 44 lbs Sex: Male Hello there, my name is Fabio. I am crate trained, house trained and I can use a doggie door. I know…..pretty good, right? My foster mom says I am very playful with dogs all sizes. I just don’t know what to do about cats. If I see one while I’m in my crate, I will bark at them, but if they're loose in the same room I act afraid of them. So you can see, I’m a bit unsure so slow cat introductions would be good for me. I am really excited to find a family who will love and care for me, maybe that’s you! RTR is a 501(c)3 no-kill rescue serving Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Not only do they help local dogs, they also make frequent volunteer trips to the overcrowded, underfunded shelters of other states.

Many southern shelters have euthanasia rates as high as 99% due to the volume of animals they admit and the lack of local adopters. RUFF Tales pulls highly adoptable dogs from these shelters and transports them back to New England, saving them from near-certain death and offering them a chance at happy lives with loving local families.

A group of volunteers headed down to Arkansas this week to assist fellow rescuers at the North Little Rock shelter. The representatives from RUFF Tales will assist at a dog wash fundraiser to raise money for spay/neuter vouchers that will help this overcrowded shelter control the local pet population.

RTR does not have a brick and mortar shelter or any paid staff. A network of devoted volunteer foster paw-rents temporarily house all of the the rescue pups until they are adopted.

Sunday’s SoWa Open Market event will feature a lineup of Boston’s most iconic food trucks as well as an outdoor beer garden sponsored by eatBoston. It’s the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon and help out some very deserving – and very cute – dogs!
