Load of Patriots in 2018 NFL HOF consideration

The list of potential 2018 Pro Football Hall of Famers should leave New England Patriots fans excited.

Initially, a list of 108 players and coaches (but mostly players) was compiled and by the looks of it, there is a lot of New England Patriots on it. But then again, that shouldn’t be a surprise. The Patriots have had some dominant teams in recent years and it’s a big list. There’s gonna be some reductions to it (down to 25 in November and down to 15 in January for the actual voting). Anyhoo, here’s a look at which former Pats who stand a chance as of right now of being inducted into the Hall of Fame next season:

Corey Dillon — Dillon helped the Patriots to a Super Bowl victory and ran for over 3,000 yards in his three seasons with the team. In all, he ran for 11.2k yards in his career.

Fred Taylor — Taylor had nearly 11.7k rushing yards in his NFL career, but his impact with the Patriots was minimal. In two seasons with the team (2009-2010) he had about 100 carries.

Randy Moss — Greatest wide receiver I’ve seen play. Had 23 receiving touchdowns in 2007. Member of the NFL All 2000s team. Definite Hall of Famer in my book.

Chad Johnson — Another excellent wideout, but not quite on the same tier. A six-time Pro Bowler, yes, but he didn’t set any league records and has his share of controversy. He played for the Patriots in 2011.

Ben Coates — Coates was a five-time Pro Bowler for the Patriots and a tremendous tight end who made the NFL All ‘90s team.

Richard Seymour — The 7-time Pro Bowler finished his NFL career with 57.5 sacks and three Super Bowl rings. Not bad.

Tedy Bruschi — Beloved in New England, the linebacker was a three-time Super Bowl champ and the league’s comeback player of the year in 2005 after beating cancer.

Willie McGinest — The outside linebacker was a two-time Pro Bowler, three-time Super Bowl champ and has the record for most postseason sacks (16).

Ty Law — As a safety, he had 34 career interceptions. He helped the Patriots win a pair of Super Bowls.

If I were a betting man I’d say Randy Moss gets in the Hall of Fame while McGinest, Dillon and Taylor will probably get some consideration. Chad Johnson has the talent, but seems like the kind of guy who would get cheated like Terrell Owens.
