Joe Castiglione fell out of his seat calling ALCS' Game 4

Joe Castiglione fell out of his seat calling ALCS' Game 4

Playoff baseball is always exciting--even if you work in baseball.

Game 4 of the ALCS was quite the excting game. Not only did the Red Sox win, but the final out of the bout came on a diving catch from the most handsome left fielder the Red Sox have had this century: Andrew Benintendi (sorry, Jason Bay). Craig Kimbrel got out of a real jam after almost blowing the game by walking three batters. But hey, it's whatever. They still won--and that's what matters.

However, he is lucky Joe Castiglione is OK. Castiglione had quite the time calling the final out of the game. The longtime WEEI play-by-play broadcaster was pumped when Benintendi made the catch. One could argue he was a little too excited. Check it out.

Yes. Castiglione, who has been calling Red Sox games for half of his life, fell out of his chair in excitement after seeing that catch. He didn't even fall out of his chair when the Red Sox recorded the final out against the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2004 World Series. No. This is what did it for him. That shows you how good of a moment that catch was for the Red Sox. It put them up 3-1 in the ALCS--and it was kind of the make-or-break game of the series for the Red Sox, if we're being honest. Once you're up 3-1, you're pretty safe, unless it's like Golden State or something like that.

Here's an interesting thought too: that final out was at like 1:20 a.m. EST. How many people were listening to that live? I don't know, I just never think of people listening to the radio that late--or listening to the radio during playoff baseball. Regardless, we are very glad someone pointed it out--because you needed to see it.
