Summer may be over, but fall is getting off to a fabulous start with several amazing food festivals heading to New England. Perhaps the most highly anticipated - especially for us Chowdaheadz - is the 11th annual Chowdafest!
The event takes place Sunday September 30 at the lovely Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, Connecticut.
Here are just a few of the highlights Chowdafest promises:
Enjoy unlimited chowder samples
40 award winning chefs and restaurants from all over New England will provide samples of their best chowders, soups and bisques as they compete for the ultimate title of Best in New England.
YOU get to be the judge
Collect your spoon, ballot and pencil at the gate and rate each sample you try to help determine the winners in five categories.
There will be more than just chowder and soup.
The festival will include a fabulous Italian-themed section cleverly called "Ciao"dafest that features artisan breads, sauces, salad and pasta. The "Beverage Bog" bosts drinks from Ocean Spray, Polar, Harney & Sons and New England Coffee Company, and the "Sweet Treats" section will be serving an array of homemade ice cream, yogurt, farm fresh milk and cookies and cheeses from several local vendors.

"Little necks" will love the kids section
The childrens activity center features free chefs hats for decorating.
