Kennebunkport, Maine is one of America's favorite summer vacation spots, but did you know it is also a wonderful place to visit during the holiday season?
Since 1982, the seaside village has celebrated their Christmas Prelude in the days following Thanksgiving, transforming into a winter wonderland with a delightful nautical flair!
This year's events are scheduled for November 29 - December 9, 2018.
On the evening of November 30 at 7 p.m. the iconic Cape Porpoise Lobster Trap Tree will be lit as carolers from The Church on the Cape Choir sing. The Cape Porpoise Kitchen will also serve refreshments.
The 13th annual Hat Parade is a favorite among locals. Marchers big and small buy or create their own festive headpieces and gather to parade through Dock Square. This year's parade is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday December 1st.
Parents, don't let your little ones miss out on the S'mores & Santa event Sunday December 2! Gather on the deck of the Boathouse at 11 a.m. to roast marshmallows and sip hot chocolate as you await Santa's famous lobster boat arrival.
Once he docks, Santa and his Lobster Elves will head to the Community House on Temple Street for photos with the kids.
Several additional events occur each night leading up to the finale weekend, including shopping specials, fundraisers, and a taproom takeover at Barreled Souls Brewing.
It all culminates with the official Finale Weekend Tree Lighting Ceremony in Dock Square on Friday, December 7th at 5 p.m. followed by the annual Prelude fireworks display.
