Experience A Quaint Mid-Century Holiday At The Briarcliff Motel

Located at the foot of Monument Mountain in the Berkshires, the Briarcliff Motel is a hidden gem. It features the perfect combination of nostalgic mid-century design plus all the modern amenities a 2020 guest could ask for.

With its private location five miles outside Great Barrington, MA it is the perfect place for a socially-distanced getaway this holiday season!

The motel itself resembles your typical one-story motor lodge - think a slightly classier version of Schitt's Creek's Rose Motel.

The lobby/guest lounge is decked out in raw wood paneling and furniture draped in 1960's-inspired fabrics.

Once you collect your key to one of the 16 guestrooms or the Briarcliff Motel's Instagram-worthy one-bedroom apartment, your holiday can begin.

Each room has its own mini-fridge, a flat screen TV and DVD player with free access to the Briarcliff's library of DVDs, and cozy accommodations including colorful plush linens.

Those who reserve the one-bedroom apartment have their own full kitchen and spectacular views of Monument Mountain.

Depending on the season, you can take advantage of the motel's collection of yard games including volleyball, badminton and lawn darts, or grab a book or board game from the lounge.

Due to the second wave of COVID-19 outbreaks across the country, the cozy firepit area is currently closed and the Briarcliff's famous, locally-sourced continental breakfast is on hold.

Instead of serving themselves in the lobby, guests will receive a $12 voucher (per day, per guest) for dining at one of the restaurants located just up the road at the Briarcliff's sister property - The Red Lion Inn.

Vouchers are good for any meal in any of The Inn’s dining outlets. Check The Red Lion Inn website for further details on restaurant openings.

The motel is also pet-friendly. In fact, they celebrate their canine guests with touches of dog-inspired decor and a wall of past canine guests titled "Dogs of the Briarcliff."

Local attractions include Monument Mountain, Mount Greylock, and Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. Go hiking, ziplining, or white water rafting at beautiful Zoar Gap, or take advantage of the winter powder to enjoy skiing, sledding, or tubing at one of the local resorts.

The motel offers custom packages or you can plan your own series of adventures here.

Like everything else in 2020, a visit to the Briarcliff Motel will be different, but due to their temporary closure and strict disinfecting/social distancing protocols, it is a safe place to get away from it all this holiday season.
