Enjoy "Sticky Bun" & "Fried Chicken" Popcorn At This Boston Theater

Gone are the days of gooey-floored movie theaters with ancient, uncomfortable seats and stale, overly-salted popcorn. Today's luxury theaters offer creature comforts like oversized, reclining chairs, cocktails and gourmet food.

The ShowPlace Icon Theatre opened on the Boston Seaport this February and features all these things and more - including a new Chef Popcorn Menu created by a group of the city's finest culinary experts.

The flavors will rotate on a monthy schedule, so be sure to visit the Show Place often to try them all.

First up will be Sticky Bun Popcorn with roasted pecans based on James Beard Award winning chef, Joanne Changhe's famous sticky buns from her Flour Bakery + Cafe. This sweet and salty snack will be popping April 1 to April 30.

May's featured flavor will be a spicy Ginger Curry “Fried Chicken” Popcorn dreamed up by Pabu Boston's executive chef, Benjamin Steigers.

In June, Pad Thai Popcorn with roasted peanuts from James Beard Award winning chef, Ken Oringer of Toro, Coppa, Uni, and Little Donkey will take over the theater.

Throughout the rest of 2018, ShowPlace Icon will feature several additional gourmet popcorn flavors from acclaimed local chefs like Colin Lynch of Bar Mezzana, Dante de Magistris of Dante and il Casale, Jamie Bissonnette of Little Donkey, Coppa and Toro, Mary Dumont of Cultivar, Matt Jennings of Townsman, Michael Schlow of Tico, Doretta Taverna and Alta Strada, Tiffani Faison of Tiger Mama and Sweet Cheeks Q, Tim Cushman of O Ya and Hojoko, and Will Gilson of Puritan & Company.

Bourbon Bacon Caramel Corn and Bacon Popcorn are permanent snack menu staples, along with the original buttery version of the classic movie snack.

If popcorn isn't your thing, the theater also offers 120 flavors of soda, pretzel bites with queso, barbecue pork nachos, artisanal slices of flatbread pizza, and an avocado piadina wrap.

The theater's 18-plus restaurant and lounge features far-reaching views of the Boston skyline, table service, a full bar program, seven local beers, and dishes like the ponzu salmon BLT, bacon jam barbecue burger, and bang bang shrimp tacos.
