Eat Dinner In A Heated, Glowing Igloo On This Worcester Patio

Lock 50 in Worcester is an upscale, award-winning restaurant and wine bar in the city's Historic Canal District.

Their patio is a favorite spot in the spring and summer, but they have also found a way to keep the outdoor space functional throughout the chillier months - transparent, cold-resistant igloos!

Each fall, the Lock 50 staff break out the igloos to keep their patrons warm and toasty. The igloos are equipped with space heaters and glow a bright blue, purple, green or red to light up the evening sky.

The desirable outdoor shelters are on a first-come-first-served basis with a two-hour maximum time limit per party.

The only loophole is to "rent" an igloo for $50 per hour. This requires a $50 deposit to hold your spot, and you can hang onto it for up to two hours.

So what is there to do inside the colorful orbs? Eat and drink, of course!

Lock 50 is known for its fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and creative, contemporary American dishes.

Enjoy a a 5-course or 7-course Chef's tasting menu or choose from a variety of adventurous and innovative options including charcuterie, small plates, flatbreads, and full entrees.

Pair your selection with a glass or bottle from the versatile wine list or choose a local craft beer or inventive craft cocktail.

Lock 50 also offers and incredible brunch menu of fruit, crepes, french toast, sandwiches, burgers, meat boards and of course, Mimosas, Bloody Marys and signature cocktails to start the weekend off right!

Call Lock 50 at (508) 379-3400 to reserve your patio igloo or visit their Facebook page for upcoming events.
