Dunkin Donuts Teams Up With Local Brewery To Create Coffee Infused Beer

It’s official! Dunkin’ Donuts is once again branching out into a different kind of brewing. Their brand new beverage premiers this week as the coffee powerhouse joins forces with Worcester-based Wormtown Brewery to create a limited edition beer called DDark Roasted Brew.

Dunkin Donuts posted the following teaser via Twitter on December 16 featuring a large regular coffee held in front of a small fragment of the Wormtown logo. The visible bit of the sign just so happens to feature an illustration of a hop.

DDark Roasted Brew is the first beer to be brewed with Dunkin’ Donuts Dark Roast coffee beans, according to a press release which described it as a “decadent stout-style beer,” with a “full-roasted coffee flavor” and a “creamy mouthfeel.”

Dunkin’ also teamed up with the North Carolina-based brewery, Catawba Brewing Company this past September to produce a limited-release, coffee-infused cold brew, pumpkin-flavored beer called Dunkin’ Punkin’ Brown Ale in time for National Coffee Day.

It was available for one day only exclusively in Catawba Brewing Company’s four North Carolina tasting rooms. One dollar from every pint sold was donated to a local food bank.

Similarly, the new stout lager will not be available at your local packie. If you want to try DDark Roasted Brew, you’ll have to visit the Wormtown taproom in Worcester where it will be available on draught starting Thursday.

In honor of the winter solstice, the ceremonial keg tapping is scheduled for 11:28 a.m. on the dot. The event is open to the public and will feature Dunkin’ Donuts’ Double Chocolate Cake Donuts for pairing with the rich beer.

“This partnership with Wormtown continues to drive innovation in Worcester and we are excited to brew up something extra bold to help our loyal guests to celebrate the darkest day of the year,” Rob Branca, a local Dunkin’ Donuts franchise owner in Worcester, said in a statement.

Branc and Wormtown Brewery plan to donate $11,500 to the Worcester Food Bank in celebration of the release.

“The fact that we’re able to give back to Worcester-area families through this partnership just makes it that much better,” Scott Drake, Wormtown’s head brewer, said in a statement.
